Closet Peep: Esther

Everyone knows one. That girl. The girl who’s always wearing the outfit that makes you see green and slightly froth at the mouth. And when you ask her where she got it from, she responds with a cheeky smile as she tells you “its from an op shop.” Your heart sinks and you’re so jealous you consider doing crazy things to get your hands on her threads.
That moment, that girl. Yeah, well I can assure you,9 times outta 10, that girl is Esther Williams.
Young, fun and ever so stylish, Miss Esther Williams welcomes us into her colour co-ordinated, closet inspired by a fusion of vintage and contemporary pieces. In Esther’s closet, vintage meets Zara to inspire her unique style.
The 19-year-old fashion student has big dreams and an even bigger closet. Whoever said less is more, did not know Miss Williams! It is certainly a case of more is more for this muchacha.
While she admits that her styles been a work in progress as she’s gone through almost every possible phase- the everything pink stage, the emo stage and even the classic teenage girl teeny tiny mini skirt phase- we can happily announce that Esther has made it through to the other side successfully and stylishly.

Name: Esther Williams
·       Age:
19
·       Star sign: Libra
·       Occupation: Design student
·       Three words you would use to describe your wardrobe? Colourful, vintage, tailored.
·       What is your most treasured item in your wardrobe? That’s hard, I get over my clothing so quickly, I would have to say right now my new coat from Zara.
·       Your style philosophy? Mix vintage with new ALWAYS. I think the biggest faux pas with wearing vintage clothes is when people wear all or a lot of vintage at once, it can easily look very bad, like your wearing all old clothes or sometimes you can look a bit hobo, when your going for boho. I think the best way to wear vintage is with clothing that is simple or tailored. It creates the right balance.

·       Where do you shop? My favourite store would definitely be Zara, I love their basics and coats. Also Spring/Summer 2012 in England they had some amazing floral patterns. But I also love finding bargains and one offs in op-shops

·       Street vs online shopping? That’s a hard one! I love street shopping because you never know how a garment will fit and look like on. But online really offers you great bargains. But I hate the waiting!! I would have to say I’m half half.

·       Rich biiish or bargain hunter? I’m definitely a bargain hunter. I think the most expensive thing I own is a coat that I still wear after three seasons. I prefer quantity over quality, I have a thing about outfit repeating and I get over my clothes very quickly, so I see no point in buying a dress for $300 that I am going to where once or twice, when I could buy my self four dresses for the same amount!

·       You wake up in the morning and think what would…wear, who is your style-spiration?
Miroslava Duma, She is the former editor at Russian Harpers Bazaar. She wears the most amazing accessories, her style is so bold and out there, she teams beautiful prints and immaculate tailoring impeccably! The things I would do for her wardrobe.

·       If you could have any superpower which would it be? The ability to pause time, like Piper could in Charmed.

·       Finish this sentence my guilty pleasure is?  Listening to the lamest pop songs.
·       When I grow up I wanna... Be an Art director in publishing.
